Can ghosts hear us when we speak to them?
This question is much more important than you might think. Our experience
with EAP/EVP suggests ghosts hear us, at least some of the time. In our audio
investigations, when we may ask questions like, “Did you die here?” and if the
reply is “Yes,” we get the impression that we’ve succeeded in having a
rudimentary conversation with a spiritual entity.
But how did the ghost hear us?
I’ve been involved in dowsing sessions with my friend and admired colleague
Karen Adamski when questions have been asked such as “Can you see us?” and
“Can you hear us?” and the ghost relies affirmatively through movement of
dowsing rods.
If a ghost does not have a physical body, how can it hear and see us?
By considering this question, and researching an answer, we may gain a much
better understanding of the most effective ways to conduct paranormal
investigations.
Since a ghost does not have a physical body, the spiritual entity is likely a
consciousness that is maintained by some kind of energy. Some people call this
psychic or mental energy. This consciousness may be strong or weak,
depending upon how much energy it can create or how much energy it captured
at the time of bodily death. This consciousness may create visual, auditory, and
tactile sensations within us that are weak or strong, depending upon how much
energy the entity wishes to expend or has available to it at the time. These
experiences – visual, auditory, and tactile - are not physical experiences but
mental ones. It is likely that the spiritual entity creates them telepathically.
Many paranormal researchers believe that when we see or hear, or feel a ghost,
we are simply having a mental perception of something we received
telepathically. If that is true, it is likely that the communication pathway works
in both directions. The fact that a ghost may respond specifically to a question
suggests that communication is, indeed, two-way.
So, if a ghost communicates with us by telepathy, are we communicating with it
by the same process? The answer to that question is; Yes, that is the best theory
we have at this time to explain communication between the living and the dead.
So, how can this information help us conduct our paranormal investigations?
For many years, I’ve advocated the use of meditation before an investigation in
order to;
clear the mind of internal distractions
shield the mind from external distractions
enable us to focus our “mental energy” on the ghost and some key aspect of its life revealed by prior research
express empathy for the ghost’s problem, needs, desires, or loss
By using meditation, which may need to be renewed several times during a long
investigation, you can wipe the black-board of your mind clean so the ghost gets
a clearer picture of what you are trying to communicate. It also helps you to
focus your thoughts, which should be limited to just a few questions.
Prior research helps you identify the entity that is likely haunting a particular
location and those few “targeted” questions which will elicit a response from the
ghost.
Empathy helps you create and emanate sympathetic emotions that may be
essential in establish a telepathic pathway between yourself and the spiritual
entity.
Those of you who have investigated with me may have noticed that I move away
from the group often, seem lost in my own thoughts, or become quiet when
animated conversations occur among everyone present. When all of that
happens, I am meditating or renewing the mediation, attempting to clear my
mind while focusing on the entity we seek.
A final word: paranormal investigations, whether they are EAP/EVP sweeps,
image-based with still pictures or video, or simply psychic with the intent of
having the experience, may be more productive if the pathway or mechanism of
the investigation is considered and recognized that is likely some kind of
interaction between your consciousness and that of the spiritual entity.
